IND vs. ENG: KL Rahul can easily fit into this squad, according to Aakash Chopra, who is supporting him to “take Shreyas Iyer’s place.”

If KL Rahul is deemed fit for the third Test against England at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on February 15, former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra said that he should immediately join the squad.

Rahul had a quadriceps injury in the first game in Hyderabad and was unable to play in the second one, which India won in Vizag by 106 runs.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that because Rahul’s first Test injury was just a niggle and not a serious ailment, he should be able to immediately rejoin the squad. Rahul’s ability to play in the third Test depends on the BCCI approving his fitness.

It was intended that KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja will be on this squad. Since KL Rahul is a batsman and isn’t keeping right now, I believe he should be a welcome addition to this squad. It was just a niggle, not a tear or anything more, Chopra said.

He continued by saying that Rahul would be a suitable replacement for Shreyas Iyer right away, since the Indian team has left him out of the lineup for the next three Test matches. Iyer, who has scored 108 runs in four innings during the current Test series, has been battling with form. In actuality, Iyer has not reached a half-century in any of his 11 prior Test innings.

Therefore, I’m expecting he’ll be available and playing in Rajkot. He may bat at No. 4 right away in lieu of Shreyas Iyer. The former India opener said, “You could see Sarfaraz Khan making his debut just in case Rahul isn’t available.” Chopra said.

Iyer could not live up to expectations as the number four batsman took over for Virat Kohli, who has been out for the whole series due to personal issues. India defeated England to level the Test series at one wicket in Vizag, thanks to innings totals of 27 and 29 from Iyer.

England’s goal in a Test series in India will be to become the first side to defeat India in eleven years. It’s interesting to note that Alastair Cook’s England squad from 2012–13 was the last team to do this.

KL Rahul*, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja*, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, and Rohit Sharma (C) are among those involved.
