Aakash Chopra argues that Ravindra Jadeja is “indispensable” and shouldn’t be hurried back before the Rajkot Test in India vs. England

The team management has been advised by former Indian batter Aakash Chopra not to send star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja back too soon. Due to an injury sustained in the first Test, Jadeja was unable to participate in India’s victory over England in Vizag.

Jadeja was unable to play in the second Test due to a hamstring injury he sustained in Hyderabad. For the third Test matchup with England, he has been included in the Indian team. Jadeja’s participation, however, is still pending the BCCI’s fitness clearance.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra urged the management to hold off on bringing Jadeja back too soon and termed him vital. Right now, Jadeja is the world’s top-ranked Test all-rounder.

“Ravindra Jadeja is without a doubt the most important member of this squad. He would need to bowl a lot, so you don’t want to hurry him back too soon because of his indispensable nature, Chopra said.

He continued by saying that India would consider playing four spinners with Jasprit Bumrah if Jadeja is given the go-ahead to play in Rajkot. Jadeja has taken seven wickets in two Test matches in Rajkot, proving that the city is a refuge for spin bowlers.

He’ll need to field and bat as well. He plays in three dimensions. Therefore, I would advise him to proceed cautiously. India may consider using Bumrah as a four-spinner if he arrives, Chopra said.

After a thrilling 28-run victory in Hyderabad, England claimed the lead in the five-match series. However, they were defeated 106 runs in Vizag in the second Test. England’s goal in a Test series in India will be to become the first side to defeat India in eleven years. It’s interesting to note that Alastair Cook’s England squad from 2012–13 was the last team to do this.

The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot will host the third game of the series on February 15. The teams will next play each other in Ranchi on February 23 and Dharamsala on March 7.

KL Rahul*, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja*, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, and Rohit Sharma (C) are among those involved.
