Newborn Child Aadhaar Card: Understand Blue Aadhaar & How to Apply

The Unique identifying Authority of India (UIDAI) assigns inhabitants of India a unique 12-digit identifying number called Aadhaar. It is more than simply a number since it is connected to a person’s biometric and demographic data, such as their name, address, portrait, fingerprints, and iris scans. Aadhaar facilitates the process of establishing bank accounts, applying for government initiatives, submitting taxes, and serving as a legitimate evidence of identity and residence across the nation.

Additionally, Aadhaar offers a unique feature and enrollment procedure for kids less than five. Although there isn’t a distinct “type” of Aadhaar, the particular feature for kids recognizes their identification and seeks to make it easier for them to be included in government programs and services from an early age.

The “Baal Aadhaar” card, created especially for kids under five, was introduced by the UIDAI in 2018. Unlike the typical adult-issued white Aadhaar card, it is distinguished by its blue color. Additionally, children under the age of five are granted a 12-digit unique identity number by UIDAI, which is shown on this card.

Regarding functionality, there are no age-based variations of Aadhaar. For adults and children under five, the presentation and enrolling procedure is a little different.

For Children (0–5), Aadhaar:

Children under the age of five will not have their biometrics taken, according to UIDAI. Their parents’ UID is connected to their face photos, and their UID is processed using their demographic data. When these kids get five and fifteen, they’ll have to update their iris, face picture, and 10 finger biometrics. The original Aadhaar letter will include an indication to that effect.
