Devon Conway is ruled out of the third Twenty20 international match between Australia and New Zealand

Devon Conway, the standout opener for New Zealand, will not play in the third and final Twenty20 International of the current series between Australia and New Zealand.
During the team’s second Twenty20 International at Eden Park in Auckland, the southpaw was hurt on his left thumb while taking wickets.

Following his injury, Conway was unable to continue playing, and Finn Allen took over as wicketkeeper.

The 32-year-old opener was unable to lead the team in batting, as they let up only 102 runs when needing 175 to win the series.

He had an X-ray right away, which ruled out a fracture. The team management didn’t want to take a chance on Conway, so he went back to the ground to rejoin the group.

The South Africa-born player will return to Wellington “to ascertain the extent of the injury to his left thumb,” according to a press statement from New Zealand Cricket.

Seifert was previously declared ineligible for the series due to a torn abductor. But he is ready to travel after passing the fitness test that was held on Saturday, February 24. In the sport’s shortest format, Seifert has participated in 56 games for the Kiwis and amassed 1204 runs at a strike percentage of 134.67.

With Seifert in the lineup, New Zealand will have the wicket-keeping alternative they need while Conway is out. Seifert, who has eight half-centuries in his T20I career, has the chance to establish himself since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is being held nearby.

Because of the packed schedule in between the games, the hosts have acquired Jacob Duffy, a speedster for Otago, to cover for the pacers.
